Y2K and On—Going Technology Management Support
Initially Hurst Technologies provided Y2K support from the Fall of 1998 through January 2000. This included planning and coordination of the program, preparation of monthly status reports, collection of test data on all of the Airport’s critical systems and components, implementation of remedial action for deficiencies that were identified, support for an FAA audit, and preparation of documentation packages for approximately 150 systems. The airport went through the year 2000 transition without a failure.
This track record proved that Hurst Technologies had the engineering and technical knowledge and expertise to analyze the needs of the airport and provide the best solution to meet the requirements for the present and into the future. Consequently Hurst Technologies continues to provide the following Technology Management support:

- IT systems assessments

Hurst provides on—going network support as following on an “as—needed” bases:
- Monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of network communications problems
- Optimization of network performance
- Design, purchase, and installation of an Email / Fax server running Microsoft Exchange and FaxMaker
- Workstation installation of Microsoft Outlook 98 Email client
- Reconfiguration of the IT network for operation at 100 Mbps
- Installation of new network switches in place of previous hubs
- Installation and configuration of various software packages for improved security and productivity
- Development of a Disaster Recovery Plan for the IT network and systematic progress towards implementation

- For this project, Hurst personnel provided the following engineering and technical services:
Hurst has also provided the following additional services:
- Performed a Needs Assessment and a Justification Study for a new airport paging system
- Prepared a budgetary estimate for the new system with several implementation options
- Design of a computer room as a part of the planned new office space construction
- Assessment of the new Parking Revenue Control System’s server configuration with identification of reliability and security discrepancies for correction by the vendor prior to system acceptance
- Assessment of the Airport’s Finance computer system with evaluation of upgrade options
- Development of a comprehensive Disaster Recovery Plan for the potential failure of all critical systems
- Replacement of the Airport Communications Center radio & telephone voice recorder
- Replacement of the Emergency Notification System autodialer
- Development of specifications for a replacement Uninterruptible Power Supply for the computer room
- Review and update of an RFP for an Automatic Vehicle Identification system for installation on the commercial driveway to control commercial vehicle traffic throughout the Airport
- Development of recommendations for IT staffing support
- Review of numerous RFPs with provision of technical comments and participation in pre—award discussions with vendors
- Project management for the application, installation and commissioning of a Automated Vehicle Identification (AVI) system for the airport operations area and commercial vehicles
