3M Hand Sanding Pads will not rust, splinter or shred like steel wool. Select pad for paint or varnish removal, metal finishing, or wood finishing. Use these pads to thoroughly clean surfaces of all remaining residue prior to applying stain or finish. If surfaces are not completely cleaned, blemishes may occur when stains or finishes are applied.
